As a thought exercise and proof of concept, I designed a mobile experience for Bring a Trailer, an online auction for vintage and classic vehicles.
Like Mecum and Barrett-Jackson, Bring a Trailer attracts a large audience of tire kickers: motor heads that merely want to view rare and unique cars. I wanted to see if I could refocus content toward auto enthusiasts, but still retain function as a marketplace.
Key features include curated collections (i.e. American Muscle, JDM Imports) and surfacing vehicles relevant to viewer interests. Photo galleries are prioritized and take advantage of touch gestures for browsing.
Users can add favorites to their garage to view later and create searches to be notified when their dream car comes on the auction block.
